Introduction
Rice Counseling and Associates, Inc. serves as home to a diverse but complimentary group of highly qualified Licensed Professional Counselors.

Its goal is to Reach Individuals and Children for Empowerment by providing ethically-based and therapeutically sound Intensive In-Home Services to children, adolescents, and their families. Its Director, Mary Rice, has extensive background in the delivery of a vast array of therapeutic services, as well as an expertise in the development and implementation of child, adolescent, and family psycho-educational programs.
Ms. Rice and staff are committed to spearheading the most effective Intensive In-Home Counseling Program in Central and Southside Virginia. Ms. Rice practices a “hands-on” approach, and plan to participate with their carefully selected and exceptionally trained clinicians in providing the therapeutic tools necessary for meaningful change. It is the goal of Rice Counseling and Associates, Inc. to assist clients to have “life altering functioning ability.”

Rice Counseling and Associates, Inc. provides time-limited interventions in the home of a child or adolescent who is at-risk of an out-of-home placement, or a child or adolescent who is in the process of transitioning back home from an out-of-home placement.

We constantly work to decrease the need of clinical services and empower the family to reach their goals and have the confidence to carry on their skills long after services are terminated.

Service Philosophy
Rice Counseling and Associates, Inc. serves its clients through crisis intervention and stabilization; individual and family counseling; communication skills training; behavioral skills training; case management; coordination of services; twenty-four hour emergency response; and seventy-two hour initial staffing.

Client Characteristics
Rice Counseling and Associates, Inc. serves children and adolescents (ages birth to twenty-one) and their families residing in both urban and rural settings. The client base is representative of the ethnic diversity present in the State of Virginia.

Description of Services
Rice Counseling and Associates, Inc. delivers a continuum of services focused on family strength building. Individual, family, and group services are delivered in client homes and/or various community sites. A systems approach is utilized, an approach which maximizes parental strengths, thereby assist the parent in his/her efforts in effective family management. Our services are designed to assist the client/family at risk of an out-of-home placement or family dissolution. We also provide step-down services, targeting family reunification following a medically necessary out-of-home placement.
